The Kacungwa Medical Centre

After worship on Sunday morning and a chance to eat an incredible lunch served by our most gracious hosts in Kacungwa, we went to visit the site of the future Medical Centre in the village of Kacungwa.  We rode in the bus from the church/school to the village center and then walked a short distance to the future site of the clinic (medical centre).

Pastor Sylver showed us the land and explained the process of purchasing and acquiring the title for the land in Uganda.  In many ways it is similar to our own, but at the same time completely different.  [NOTE:  If you’ve watched the series “The Poverty Cure”, you know that land ownership is one of the key drivers of poverty, particularly in third world countries.]  The land currently has a covered building used as a church and part is planted in maize (corn).  The pastor of the church will be joining us in Kacungwa Church on Monday to pray and share Jesus with the sick and injured.

We hiked down the length of the property then up through the corn field  to see the upper corner of the land.  Pastor Sylver explained that they currently have acquired the property deed (essentially securing the purchase of the property), but will be another couple of weeks until they have the actual title in hand.  He explained that this last part of the process is to assure that there no others laying claim to the property.   We have seen the original signed and stamped property deed document, so we know it’s almost ready to start construction.  The vision of Pastor Sylver’s from 2010 is becoming a reality – praise God.

Finally, we walked back to the place where the clinic building itself is to be built and were joined by community leaders, neighbors and others interested to bless the land.  We joined hands in a large circle and Masumba (Pastor) Ken prayed a blessing over the land that it would be a place for people to come to be healed both physically and spiritually.

After so many years of praying it is almost here…God, Kabaka wa bakabaka (King of Kings) be glorified in this place and may many be healed in Jesus’ name!
